Detox in a weekend

Weekend Detox
  • Having completed the detox programme, you should be feeling a good deal healthier and more energetic than you did before.

  • The idea from now on is to avoid a build-up of toxins in your body by sticking to healthy eating patterns.

  • You should also keep up your exercise and relaxation routines, and continue to look after your body.

  • Avoid a constant diet of junk food, alcohol and caffeine, and manage stress effectively.

  • Be prepared at weekends for detox by planning everything in advance.

Saturday

Morning programme

Have a lie-in when you wake up, then drink a glass of hot water and lemon juice. Follow this with a dry skin brushing session, then take a hot shower or bath, followed by a blast of cold water. Dress in loose clothes, and eat a light breakfast. Write down in your diary or notepad all that is going through your mind. If you are worried, you should be able to see the problems and put them into perspective. If you are happy, writing down your thoughts will help to prolong your mood. Then practice the exercises for deep breathing and muscle relaxation. Before lunch, relax by reading, and then meditate.

Afternoon programme

Take a long walk somewhere where you can appreciate nature and get plenty of fresh air. You mustn't drive to get there because this will raise your stress levels again; if there is nowhere pleasant nearby, take a bus or train to your chosen destination. After your walk, give yourself a foot massage, and then it's time for a home beauty session. Have a deep-cleaning facial, then massage your scalp with a dilution of lavender oil or apply the fruit smoothie hair mask. Follow this by relaxing in the living room, reading or watching a film.

Evening programme

Wind down for the evening with a light supper that your body can digest easily. Then have another relaxation session - reading, writing, listening to music. Light some candles and think positive thoughts. End the evening with a hand massage, then go to bed.
