-
You can use your sense of touch in a lulling, soothing way to induce a state of meditation at times of stress.

Sit with your eyes closed, and be aware of the colour that comes into your mind.
Gaining the meditative state
Touch
You can use your sense of touch in a lulling, soothing way to induce a state of meditation at times of stress. Young children do this when they adopt a satisfyingly smooth ribbon or piece of fabric to hold and manipulate when they are feeling tense. The same technique is seen all over the Middle East, where strings of worry beads are rhythmically passed through the fingers at difficult moments to focus the mind and calm anxiety Their uniform size, gentle round shapes, smooth surfaces and rhythmic, orderly clicking as they are passed along their string all assist the meditative state. Use one or two smooth, rounded stones in the same way passing them slowly from hand to hand.
Colours
Some colours are associated with relaxation and can be a helpful way to clear the mind of tension and allow meditation to start. Sit with your eyes closed, and be aware of the colour that comes into your mind: it may be any colour of the rainbow - red or purple are common. Then slowly and gradually allow that colour to change to a blue or green colour; allowing it to fill the whole of your mind's eye and replacing all other colours. The colour pink is also recommended by colour therapists and this may prove helpful. You will find a feeling of relaxation growing as the new colour builds in your mind, and when the relaxed colour is complete, you will experience feelings of inner peace.
Establish a comfortable rhythm of breathing and then focus oh it until your mind is completely still, relaxed and clean Colours are associated with all kinds of qualities, so choose the best for your own particular moods and needs.
